Who is American Wood Fibers?

American Wood Fibers (AWF) was founded in 1966 and is recognized as a leader in the field of specialty forestry products. Over the past 50 years, AWF has expanded beyond its specialty forest products, producing a broader array of offerings for industrial, commercial, consumer, and agricultural markets. We offer large and small animal bedding, industrial wood flour, premium wood pellet products, firewood, soil and compost, specialty commercial, industrial and agricultural products, and transportation services. Headquartered in Columbia, Maryland, AWF has ten manufacturing sites across the continental U.S.

Regional Accounts Sales Representative, Mid-Atlantic

American Wood Fibers (AWF), a rapidly growing manufacturer of products sold to pet, agricultural, home heating and industrial markets seeks a Regional Accounts Sales Representative based at the corporate office in Columbia, MD. AWF manufactures at 10 locations spanning the continental U.S., has 400 employees, and generates over $115M in annual sales revenue.

Responsibilities:

  • Grow sales and profits through the maintenance and expansion of relationships with customers including large, multi-location retailers, regional distributors and smaller individual dealers.
  • Support and grow AWF market share with existing accounts and new sales opportunities through strategic marketing campaigns and effective customer outreach programs.
  • Proactively assess, clarify, and report customer needs on an ongoing basis.
  • Collaborate with regional and corporate management and sales teams in defining, developing, and implementing sales and marketing objectives and strategies.
  • Monitor, analyze, review and report on relevant markets and sales.
  • Develop sales presentations to include customer business reviews, new products and product positioning strategies.
  • Provide input for the creation of deliverables i.e. sell sheets, package designs etc.
  • Perform sales order entry and other administrative duties as required

Qualifications:

  • High School degree required and minimum of 7 years experience in account management of local and regional markets
  • Ability to generate, interpret and analyze sales and market intelligence
  • Background in Equine and Agricultural markets required
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel and Power point
  • Some travel required (up to 60%) in Mid-Atlantic region (MD, Northern VA, PA, DE, NJ)
