American Wood Fibers (AWF) was founded in 1966 and is recognized as a leader in the field of specialty forestry products. Over the past 50 years, AWF has expanded beyond its specialty forest products, producing a broader array of offerings for industrial, commercial, consumer, and agricultural markets. We offer large and small animal bedding, industrial wood flour, premium wood pellet products, firewood, soil and compost, specialty commercial, industrial and agricultural products, and transportation services. Headquartered in Columbia, Maryland, AWF has ten manufacturing sites across the continental U.S.

The Production Operator is responsible for packaging, material handling, lifting up to 50 lbs. and other general labor as needed to produce packaged or bulk materials. High School diploma or GED is required.

Plant Supervisor

American Wood Fibers (AWF), a rapidly growing manufacturer of consumer and industrial products sold to other manufacturers and to pet, agricultural and home heating markets, seeks a Plant Supervisor based at its Marysville, CA facility. AWF manufactures at 10 locations spanning the nation, has 400 employees, and corporate sales are above $100 million annually.

The Plant Supervisor is responsible for general supervision of all phases of plant operations including: production, quality control, maintenance, receiving, and shipping.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership for the successful day-to-day operation of a three (3) shift facility.
  • Supervises and coordinates activities of plant employees in production.
  • Work closely with quality personnel to review product consistency to determine trends and areas of improvement
  • Review established production schedules to insure established inventory levels are met while operating at the highest efficiency possible
  • Coordinate the hiring and training of all production/maintenance personnel
  • Monitor operation expenses and research ways to reduce costs while maintaining product quality
  • Supervises loading and unloading of trucks and completion of paperwork.
  • Conducts daily and month-end inventory count and report
  • Work closely with all personnel to ensure all members of the manufacturing team are aware of safety policies to provide a safe workplace for our employees
  • Work closely with the production team to increase productivity and profitability
  • Facility/physical plant up-keep and capital improvements
  • Annual budget planning and execution

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree and five (5) years of relevant management experience
  • Demonstrated understanding of the principles and applications associated with manufacturing operations and maintenance
  • Previous experience/strong understanding of budgeting/expense management with a basic understanding of financial and accounting practices
  • Strong computer skills including the ability to prepare spreadsheets and use Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Power Point and/or Access) to analyze data and trends
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills, with the ability to balance production and maintenance needs
  • Highly motivated, results oriented, driven and ability to work in a fast paced environment

Credit and Collections Specialist

American Wood Fibers (AWF), a rapidly growing manufacturer of consumer and industrial products sold to other manufacturers and to pet, agricultural and home heating markets, seeks a Part-time Credit and Collections Specialist based at the Columbia, Maryland Corporate Headquarters. AWF manufactures at 10 locations spanning the nation, has over 400 employees, and generates over $100M in annual sales revenue.

The Credit and Collections Specialist will work approximately 16 to 20 hours per week. Demonstrates an advanced proficiency and understanding regarding credit and collection practices. Works with our remote office teams to monitor credit limits and aid in collections.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Plant facilities, Sales team and Customers to provide customer service support regarding collection issues, process customer refunds, process and review account adjustments, resolve client discrepancies and short payments.
  • Responsible for monitoring and maintaining assigned accounts- Customer calls, account adjustments, small balance write off, and customer reconciliations.
  • Accountable for reducing delinquency for assigned accounts.
  • Perform other assigned tasks and duties necessary to support the Accounts Receivable Department.
  • Enlist the efforts of Sales and Senior Management when necessary to accelerate the collection process.
  • Must communicate & follow up effectively with Sales team regarding customer accounts on a timely basis.
  • Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with Sales team, Plant facilities, and Customers.
  • Process and distribute Delinquency notices.
  • Manage phone calls to assigned delinquent customers.
  • Reconcile customer disputes as they pertain to payment of outstanding balances that are due and provide appropriate reporting to Plant facilities, Sales team, and Senior Management.

Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Accounting, Finance or related field or an equivalent combination of skills, training, and experience.
  • Knowledge of Billing, Chargeback and Collections procedures
  • Accounts Receivable knowledge/experience preferred
  • Experience with Dynamics is preferred
  • Superior computer skills with a particular expertise in Excel

Systems Engineer

American Wood Fibers (AWF), a rapidly growing manufacturer of products sold to pet, agricultural, home heating and industrial markets seeks a Systems Engineer based at its Columbia, Maryland corporate headquarters. AWF manufactures at 10 locations spanning the continental U.S., has 400 employees, and generates over $100M in annual sales revenue.

The Systems Engineer will apply expertise to solve first level technical support issues for the end-users.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with the design and architecture of AWF core infrastructure including Citrix, Servers, Storage, Networking, and Voice
  • Supports with vendor management and proposals in order to engineer robust solutions for migrating and updating core applications
  • Assists with prioritizing and managing end user requirements for all AWF locations
  • Responsible for initial troubleshooting of AWF core infrastructure when disruptions or outages occur
  • Researches, analyzes, and resolves software, network, mobile and hardware questions and problems
  • Applies expertise to solve first level technical support issues for the end-users
  • Troubleshoots connectivity issues for Citrix, Exchange, core applications, and printing
  • Documents installation procedures and creates “how-to” documentation to assist users with self-service troubleshooting
  • Instructs users in the use of PCs, Laptops, mobile devices connected to AWF
  • Primary contact for VoIP/phone support

QUALIFICATIONS
