Over the past 50 years, AWF has expanded, producing a broader array of offerings for industrial, commercial, consumer, and agricultural markets. We offer large and small animal bedding, wood shavings, industrial wood flour, premium wood pellet products, firewood, soil and compost, specialty commercial, industrial and agricultural products, and transportation services. AWF strives to make a positive contribution to the environment through total waste utilization in our forestry products, use of recyclable materials for our packaging, and the development of environmentally friendly products. Who is American Wood Fibers?

American Wood Fibers (AWF) was founded in 1966 and is recognized as a leader in the field of specialty forestry products. Over the past 50 years, AWF has expanded beyond its specialty forest products, producing a broader array of offerings for industrial, commercial, consumer, and agricultural markets. We offer large and small animal bedding, industrial wood flour, premium wood pellet products, firewood, soil and compost, specialty commercial, industrial and agricultural products, and transportation services. Production Operator
The Production Operator (1st, 2nd and 3rd shifts) is responsible for packaging, material handling, lifting up to 50 lbs. and other general labor as needed to produce packaged or bulk materials. High School diploma or GED is required.

Maintenance Technician
The Maintenance Technicians performs scheduled preventative maintenance, CMMS reporting, repair and maintenance of semi-trailer fleet; working with mechanical equipment, including hydraulic and pneumatic valves, cylinders, pumps, motors, conveyor systems, motor controls, breakers and PLC controls. Prior experience as an industrial mechanical technician highly preferred. Experience in industrial maintenance, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting required.

General Manager

American Wood Fibers (AWF), a rapidly growing manufacturer of consumer and industrial products sold to other manufacturers and to pet, agricultural and home heating markets, seeks a General Manager based at its Pella, IA Plant. AWF manufactures at 10 locations spanning the nation, has 400+ employees, and generates over $100M in annual sales revenue.

The General Manager will have P&L responsibility, responsible for managing approximately 25 staff and establishing and accomplishing business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all strategic and business operations (production, maintenance, safety, quality, and service) of Pella facility to include P&L.
  • Effective decision making that positively impacts financial results, employee morale, and customer satisfaction
  • Manage staff (plant operations, maintenance, transportation, and office/accounting), preparing work schedules and assigning specific duties
  • Maintain and promote a culture of continuous improvement regarding safety and good housekeeping
  • Review financial statements, sales and activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement and to determine areas needing cost reduction and programimprovement
  • Establish and implement facility policies, goals, objectives, and procedures, conferring with senior management and staff members as necessary
  • Collaborates with the sales team in defining, developing and implementing sales and marketing strategies
  • Determine staffing requirements, and interview, hire and train new employees, or oversee those personnel processes
  • Raw material and finished goods inventory management
  • Works in collaboration with other plants and management to effectively ensure overall business goals are achieved
  • Responsible for preparation of annual budget/plan and weekly financial/production reports
  • Assist in development of forms and tools to increase company efficiency and risk management
  • Assists in recommendations for new product ideas and new market opportunities

Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree and/or 5 years’ management experience required
  • Lean manufacturing/continuous improvement experience preferred
  • Senior level operations management experience required
  • Exceptional leadership and organizational ability
  • Background in manufacturing, engineering/maintenance, wood products, and transportation preferred
  • Due to the safety sensitivity in a wood processing manufacturing environment, candidate must be a non-smoker.

General Manager

American Wood Fibers (AWF), a rapidly growing manufacturer of consumer and industrial products sold to other manufacturers and to pet, agricultural and home heating markets, seeks a General Manager based at its Lebanon, KY Plant. AWF manufactures at 10 locations spanning the nation, has 400+ employees, and generates over $100M in annual sales revenue.

The General Manager will have P&L responsibility, responsible for managing approximately 120 staff and establishing and accomplishing business objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for all strategic and business operations (production, maintenance, safety, quality, and service) of Lebanon facility to include P&L
